Two International Airlines are reported to have grazed their at the airport late last night.
Witnesses told Joy News the wings of the two aircraft - Lufthansa and Turkey airlines grazed whiles one was landing and the other preparing to take-off.
A worker at the airport, Nana Yaw, who witnessed the incident, said passengers in both planes had to be rushed out for engineers to assess the extent of damage.
He said there was a loud bang but could not tell of any immediate damage.
When Joy News reporters got to the scene yesterday, officials of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority were busy assessing the situation.
John Amerdeo, Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company said the findings of the investigative team will guide the company’s operations to avert similar situations in the future.
He expects the airlines involved to co-operate fully with the team to speed up the investigations.
The Deputy Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor was also at the airport to get first hand information about the incident.
She said given that the slightest problem in the aviation sector can easily result in fatalities, every accident, no matter how small, must be taken seriously.
