NDC: Nana Addo's ‘Prof do little’ comment caused him his recognition at Afahye

The National Democratic Congress says the leader of the opposition New Patriotic Party was not given the due recognition when he attended the Fetu Afahye festival in the Central Region because the occasion was not a political rally.

Allotey Jacobs, head of communication for the NDC in the Central Region also added that Nana Addo was ignored in protest over comments he made against President John Mills.

Central Regional executives of the NPP protested what they referred to as a deliberate plan to ignore their leader even though he (Nana Addo) had pre-informed the organizers of his participation in Saturday's festival.

The executives were even more incensed because they claim regional executives of the NDC were acknowledged during the programme, while the leader of the opposition party was ignored.

They also accused President Mills of leaving out Nana Addo while greeting dignitaries at the durbar.

In a reaction, Allotey Jacobs told Joy FM’s Central Regional correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko that Nana Addo was ignored in protest over his name calling of the president.

“This was in response to Mr Akufo-Addo calling prof Mills, the president as 'Prof do little'. I think that statement made by the NPP flag-bearer didn’t go down well with the people of Cape Coast.

“It was also an indication that Prof Mills is firmly on the ground in Central Region as well as in Cape Coast.

“It is most unfortunate that such statement will be made by a flag bearer but I think that it was a protest by the chiefs and people of Cape Coast,” he stated.

Allotey Jacobs maintained that the NDC had nothing to do with the turn of events at the festival ground.

“Afahye is not for political rallies; it is time to reflect on our past and how to move forward,” he added.
